Rumors that this mode was scrapped due to pressure of completion deadline have been rubbished by Treyarch co-head Dan Bunting who said the decision was prompted by a desire to try something different. However, the dystopian near-future adventure is incredibly gripping, as players guide the main unnamed junior deputy sheriff in efforts to liberate Hope County and Edens Gate from the despotic grip of Joseph Seed and his cult followers the Project.A thrilling mixture of exploration, adventure and combat, the players use an array of weaponry to fend off enemy soldiers and threatening wildlife, Far Cry 5 also features great features such as a map editor, a co-operative multiplayer mode, and a competitive multiplayer mode.Far Cry 5 was a long time in development, and this cert ainly paid off in the positive critical reception for the world design, the overall quality of the visuals, as well as the soundtrack. Players assume the role of a resident of Vault 76, a fallout shelter in West Virginia for Americas best and brightest minds, and the character is exiting the facility on Reclamation Day as part of a plan to recolonise the vanquished Earth.The open world of the game, reportedly four times the size of the world in Fallout 4, is based closely on West Virginia, the will feature a variety of new mutant monsters. However, there will be no human non-player charactersâ€"all the humans featured in Fallout 76 will be other players, an approach that is bound to have exciting implications for storytelling and narrative drive.Of course, this is also a shooter, and players wi ll be able to use nuclear and other weapons. The game was around two years in development, partly due to the development teams decision to add a single-player campaign to the original in a bid to expand the player base.In the science fiction universe of Titanfall 2 players are in control of the exoskeleton Titans and their agile, multi-skilled pilots who can run on walls and cloak amongst other incredible abilities. The single-player campaign revolves around the story of Frontier Militia rifleman Jack Cooper and his Titan, BT-7274, and the pairs efforts to thwart the evil Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) from launching a superweapon.The engrossing narrative drive of this game is served well by stunning graphics and amazingly fluid gaming action. In addition, Respawn has supported Titanfall 2 with quite a few sets of downloadab le content throughout the year after the games release.A number of factors, mainly the timing of the games release, meant that it did not sell as strongly as anticipated, but financial firm Morgan Stanley estimated that Titanfall had sold at least 4m units by January of 2017. Players work together in their teams to either secure or defend control points, or to escort characters and payloads across maps within a set timeframe.Overwatch is set 60 in the future, and 30 years after the resolution of the so-called Omnic Crisis. Omnics were AI robots who revolted against their human inventors, prompting the United Nations to form the international Overwatch task force to combat the omnics and restore order to the Earth. However, the two veteran soldiers in charge of Overwatch split into two factions, Overwatch and the covert division, Blackwatch. Although peace was maintained for decades, the rivalry between the two divisions boiled over into in-fighting and violence, prompting the UN to dismantle and outlaw Overwatch. The game begins as the Overwatch vacuum is filled by corporations, and terrorist incidents breakout across the globe, in addition to a resurgence of the omnic threat. Former members of the task force reassemble covertly in a bid to restore order.The narrative cast a potent spell. In the first week after its launch, Overwat ch attracted more than 7m players, with accumulated playtime of 119m hours. The player base has continued to expand, and the numbers are staggering. Activision-Blizzards quarterly revenue for Overwatch exceeded $1bn by Q1 2017. Despite the title, this is actually the 15th instalment in the Battlefield series.Originally developed by EA Dice and released by Electronic Arts in October 2016, Battlefield 1 is regarded as one of the critical highpoints of the series and its certainly one of its commercial peaks.Set during the First World War and inspired by the historical events of the period, gameplay involves making use of World War I weaponsâ€"including bolt-action rifles, automatic and semi-automatic rifles, artillery, flamethrowers and mustard gasâ€"to do battle with opponents. Players can also control a div erse array of armored vehicles in battle, including tanks, armored trucks, cars, torpedo boats, vintage fighter aircraft, an armored train, Reconnaissance vehicles. They can also pilot a dreadnought, an LZ 30 Airship and ride horses into combat.Fans can look forward to the Battlefield V sequel, announced in May 2020 and slated for release in October 2020.
